But to a true right winger, I would be considered left wing. Most people remember the things they disagree about, and not what they agree on. For example, I am called a right winger in a thread where I support changing laws to give homosexuals equal rights. Funny how we gloss over what we agree on. |

Don't think this is the first time I've brought this up either haha. There is a reason I don't like many of the debates between left and right as the forefront of the discussion because I think most of it is pretty pretentious and illogical. Really I tihink most would find (at least in American politics) that most of the left and right are pretty similar simply becauses they are closer to moderates than anything. I still think most of the split is simply created by the extremes to give this "false" sense of opposing forces clashing... somehting Madison spoke pretty heavily against.
It's simply a distraction to those really trying to have legitimate discussion and eventual compromise. I mean that is how the founding fathers would have wanted it. Just for some odd reason we don't seem to want to do that. I really do wish we could have debates as Americans or citizens rather than right, left, democrat, republican, extremist, anarchist, god lover, god hater... etc.
Maybe I'll create a topic on just that tomorrow or something. Haha already got an idea for today's topic that will get very few reads and views.
