But to a true right winger, I would be considered left wing. Most people remember the things they disagree about, and not what they agree on. For example, I am called a right winger in a thread where I support changing laws to give homosexuals equal rights.

Funny how we gloss over what we agree on.

conservatives are against gay people having equal rights?

Most people when they talk about "right wing", they mean the extreme right. The extreme right is usually religiously motivated in most of there social views.

So yes, the religious right is against equal rights for gay people. This is not all conservatives however.

I wouldn't say religiously motivated so much as "religiously justified".

It's like back when Kings would be deposed because a bunch of his enemys just so happened to believe a different Claiment was the rightful King.

People don't want gay people to get married so they take a few quotes out of context.

Finally, something Kasz and I don't agree on :)

I think it's the other way around. The bible makes religious people not want gays to marry, and I don't think it's taking a few quotes out of context.

I am pretty sure the bible means to say living a gay lifestyle will send you to hell. So, if you care about all people, and don't want them to go to hell, you try and "help" them.

I would be the same way. If I though eating a tomato was going to cause you explode and you didn't, I would do everything in my power to keep you from eating it, for your own good.

That's what sucks about it. It's hard to get mad at a delusional group of people who really just want to save you from a horrific future.
