| supercat said: Are you saying that supporting two formats is contradictory in of itself, or that it is contradictory in practice --by robbing each other of sales-- or, both? Well, I have no reason to argue philosophy but I will say that because the PSP/go dont use Blu ray, the PSPgo won't be stealing from the Blu ray bandwagon. The formats dont take away from each other and this isnt that hard to figure out. Are you trying to say that less UMD movies will be sold? If so, then your point sort of makes sense, but I dont think that UMD movies are still made anyway. |
I kinda started on the premise that Blu-Ray rights belonged to Sony, and that the direction they took with digital only for the PSP would undermine what they did over the years in trying to push Bluray out (the philosophy). Seeing as many would believe (as I thought when bluray came out) that digital downloads/streaming would be the future for entertainment media, I thought they were introducing a direct competitor onto themselves. But, sony doesn't have exclusive rights or anything so I guess it started to become more of a mute point.
