I have a feeling HD-DVD is going to do very well this Christmas. Both Toshiba and Sony will take a hit, but Toshiba will get more dedicated players in peoples homes. If Sony comes out with a 100-200 dollar player, it will take out the selling point of the PS3. Reducing the price of the PS3 more in North America won't guarantee that every home will pick one up. People looking for something to play Hi-def movies, don't always have the PS3 in mind. I am talking about average Joe. What's really throwing a wrench in Sony's plan is this 100 dollar HD-DVD player and the year long success of the Wii.

If Sony can't convince that that the PS3 is the hot item this Christmas, they won't get that early 2008 momentum. Frankly I don't think another sku will do it. Nintendo has a deadly combo of Galaxy, extra stock of Wiis, Wiifit, and SSBB that will make them look like they are hitting a speed boost from F-Zero. Winning the holidays means free media publicity that will take them into the middle of next year. The only mistake Nintendo is making imo is not releasing Wiifit before the holidays.

but nintendo is gonna hit hte tax return group though with it meaning during a "downtime from xmas" months, nintendo can keep up the sales for the following 3-4 months after xmas. its actually a better idea that way you get a more consistant sales then just spike sales then a huge drop off.
