This article basically gives the impression that people want Blu Ray more, but it is too expensive. So some really desperate people are getting HD DVD until Blu Ray gets cheaper.

How is buying something affordable being "desparate"?? Getting the HD DVD player for $98 at Walmart was a fantastic deal and it delivers an awesome picture.

I will probably get a Blu-ray player when they get down below $150 also. But until then I've at least got a way to view full HD content that looks so much better than what is broadcast via cable.

Yeah, buying HD-DVD isn't desparate since BD has no tangible advantages for users.  The audio/visual quality is the same, for example, and the only real difference is studio support.  Which is about a horse a piece right now.

Also, it's worth noting that OTA broadcast HD -- the kind you can get with a pair of rabbit ears -- is also significantly better quality than the HD content you can get over cable.
