Why can't somebody just evaluate and tell us the maximum power of a cell?

Has already been done, the PS3 Cell can deliver ~218 GFlops, true world tests have shown near full efficiency is possible unlike for most other processors (for example Xenon can in theory can do ~77 GFlops, but is less efficient). The Cell's SPUs are very flexible with regard to what they can do, usually at amazing speeds if code is optimised for them.

Naughty Dog: "At Naughty Dog, we're pretty sure we should be able to see leaps between games on the PS3 that are even bigger than they were on the PS2."
