Wall-e is fine, but only because it is totally different from the general Pixar style, that I hate.
Modern animated cartoons totally lack deeper emotions, that made old Disney grand and memorable. Now there is no more romance, tension, sadness, singing, cuteness, and fear, just... silliness. And even more silliness. And some parental service.
I recently watched some old Disney movies that I missed as a child, and it is definitely not just nostalgia, because they are great, too. They actually treated their audience like adults, even if they were kids. I'm also really hyped about "The Princess and the Frog", that seems to be a traditional drawn musical, based on a classic story, with only bearable amount of silliness. |
Have you seen UP? That was one of the saddest childrens movies I have ever seen, what is sadder than death? It was everything you listed, as most Pixar movies are. The only 'bad' movie Pixar has ever made was Cars which was good in it's own right.
