The day Half-Life 2 came out I skipped school to play it all day and night.
The day Mario Kart: Double Dash came out I skipped school to play it all day and night with several friends over.
Maybe 5 or so times I skipped school because I was in the middle of an intense game of StarCraft that was lasting longer than expected.
The only time I skipped work for a game was the day the Wii and Wii Sports launched. But I asked for that day off months in advance so I could have a Wii Sports party (with some 4 player Red Steel and some Zelda of course).
