I did it before the requirement of trophies to PS3 games and I've done it for older consoles and PC games. . .
If a game has trophies, then it provides me with some motivation to want to spend some more time with the game after the first playthrough, but not having trophies isn't something that would make me avoid a game entirely.
I'd rather play through a game because I want to and not because it has trophies or achievements.
