Uncharted 2 only took 18 months to be developed

FF 13 and GT5 also didn't have their entire graphics engine built already and assets from a previous game on the same platform to use. They also didn't have the gameplay fundamentals already done.

It's easier to make sequels. case in point: Gears 2, Halo ODST, Mass Effect 2, Super Mario Galaxy 2.

They tore down and rebuilt their engine for uncharted 2 :p did you watch the video ?

I did watch the video, they said they tore it down and reoptimized it, not make it from scratch lol, that would be a big waste of time since the Uncharted 1 engine was already excellent. I'm sure the Mario Galaxy engine has also been optimized for Galaxy 2.
