GT decided to give the game a 9.3, and that's that. His whole story about innovation really has nothing to do with it, since its obviously inconsistant -- its not some policy they have in place. He's human, like the rest of us, and felt some need to defend his score -- he chose a really poor position to "defend" it from, but... that's what he did.
There are some fairly strong correlations, given the fair differences between small score values with the "inflated" score system, between GT scores on the PS3 vs GT scores on the 360, so that probably did come into play here, whether they want to admit it, or even consciously realize it, or not.
In any case, no matter how much anyone complains, whatever it is that gives GT "less of a good vibe" about U2 (or any PS3 game, apparently), isn't going to change because someone gets mad about it, and posts on some forums.
Just don't visit their site for reviews, if you dislike what they have to say. Action, not words.
