Nobel Peace and Literature Prizes are a joke. The Nobel Prizes for medicine, physics, chemistry, and the like are for those who do great things.

I dunno.  Aside from Obama the rest of the Nobel Peace Prize winners are extradonary figures.

Well outside of the Israel and Palsetine guys who ultimatly whiffed on a peace deal.

Literature is a joke though.

There are great people who have won the Nobel Peace Prize, but when they give it to people who didnt do much for peace it makes the prize much less presitigious.  Gore and De Klerk come to mind.

Well Al Gore was part of the IPCC.   Which I guess now that you mention it didn't really have much to do with peace.  Though I mean they didn't have a chance of winning an actual science award considering their dubious science standards.

Though then again you could argue that helping to slow or stop global warming does stop future wars for resources.

As for De Klerk.  He lifted the ban on the ANC and let go of Mandela... who was the joint winner.

They always give the prize to both sides of a historic agreement.
