For one reason or another, there are games that go unnoticed by the general population. Sometimes this is due to the fact that the game is of low quality or  targets the wrong demographic; or, in the case of a stellar game, it was released on a failing or unpopular system or produced in limited numbers and is very rare, or most likely it did not receive media attention, was not advertised properly or did not review well. Some of the more memorable games develop a cult following among members of the gaming community but remain a "niche" title for the remainder of their lifetime. I have been reading about gaming gems on Racketboy.com and I want to know:

What are your favorite niche games?

It's a shame when good games are forgotten or fail to attract attention from the general community; here are my favorites that I suggest you check out:

1.) Panzer Dragoon Saga (SS) -  due to the poor sales of the sega saturn and its release late in the lifecycle, many a gamer neglected to pick up this title. I've let my friends try it and they yawn and call it underwhelming, but I found it to be a very pleasent rpg with a refreshing and exciting battle system. There was just something about owning and playing a game that I know very few people have actually played; sort of like unearthing buried treasure.

2.) Legend of Dragoon (PS1) - this game received mixed reviews....I guess I never really paid attention to those reviews before I picked it up. too many people compared it to Final Fantasy VII and sony's rpg was overshadowed instantly. I played this one in a vacuum without reading any reviews and I hadn't played FFVII yet at that time. It turned out to be a beautiful game, if somewhat limited by the lack of free movement on the world map, that had a fantastic story (though admittedly cliche) and memorable characters. this one also had a unique battle system that reminded me of Mario RPG where you had to time multiple hits to succeed with combos.

3.) Quest 64 (N64)- NO one liked this game or bought it; and I don't understand why. the landscapes where a little bland but It was a fun rpg on a system that had a severe lack of them.  I loved this game and I played it all the way through...then all the way through again when my memory card died. maybe I just have more patience than the average gamer...
