I now use a 320GB 7200RPM (I think it is Samsung) and it works without any issues.
From what I read the increase in temperature is minimal, but so is the increase in performance.
The only tests I did before/after proved that a 200MB file was about 2sec quicker on the 7200RPM and Oblivion started up about 1.5-2 sec faster, I used a digital stopwatch/wristwatch.
Of course this only proves to me that I do indeed now have a faster HDD.
