PC is way more than a simple console. Nowadays consoles are more complete and do more functions than the consoles of previous generations, but that still doesn't detract from the fact that they are primarly and foremost a gaming device, and are created and optimized as such.

PC is a massive multi-task hub, in my laptop I do the following: Create Molecules using proper biochemical programs, create scientifical articles with intrinsicate and complex algorthims and codification, do DOS programing for my friends who want to Retro-game, create LAN servers using my laptop as a private proxy, play everything from the NES era to the PS2, GC and DS, browse the internet and optimize the performance of my laptop with freeware programs that cannot be found for any console.

So yeah, a PC is by no way and possibility a console, is something much more, and it has to be treated differently than a console.
