I don't understand when people say this. They are the same thing! The only difference is that one is a number and one is an icon. The actual "achievement", ie the thing you do to get that number/icon, is the same. That should really be the most important part, the feeling of knowing you have done it, rather than the visual feedback given.

Eh I disagree. Numbers > Icons.
I have a score of 40,000 thousand. You have a score of 20,000 I'm totally twice as better.
I've got a Square. You have a triangle. I have no clue how much better I am then you are.
I have 15 tropies, you have 8.
But they're all different kinds so I have to employ some sort of strange olympic grading scale to know how much better I am then you at something.
Not that i actually care about achivements. But that's why points > Icons.

And I disagree.
Trophies are not really icons. They are a much detailed grading system then just numbers can ever be.
For example I look at someone's trophy card and I get a better idea of what sort of gamer they are.
If I see someone having double the number of trophies then someone else but only half the number of platinum trophies, I can say that the former is a better completionist while the latter plays a larger number of games.
Then again there is the level system that I can attain by gaining enough trophies.
The trophy system is able convey more information by breaking itself upto convey quantity as well as quality.
The achievements just look like a mess of points.

I have a lower Gamerscore than most in the league, but my overall completion rate is above most people at 86%, so you're wrong.
