You'll see when you play for yourself. I actually love Mass Effect but it's too short.

Mass Effect is fourty hours long  if you do all side quests along with the main mission. The next one will be longer.

Bull like this is why WRPGs bother. You beat Mass Effect in less than 10 hours. Less than 7 if you rush. The things are the side are just gravy.

I'm at 62 hours in Persona 3 and I still have at least 15 more hours of stuff to do.

I think it's a positive that wrpgs don't force feed a huge time investment on you like jrpgs do. What's the point of a really long main quest if it's boring, tedious and repetitive? I don't know how anyone can get excited about a game where 90% of the battles in a 60+ hour game are boring as hell. If jrpgs cut out all the filler and allowed for more non-linearity, they would be so much better. Back in the old days pre-Playstation, jrpgs were definitely shorter and more non-linear. Beyond a certain point, jrpgs feel like a CHORE to solder through. Once a game starts becoming a chore rather than fun, the whole point is lost. Maybe the diehard jrpg players who aren't sick of this genre yet are wired differently personality-wise but I just don't get the appeal of most jrpgs anymore. For every jrpg I wasted my time on, I could have invested that time on 3 quality games of another genre that never get old. Quality > Quantity.
