You can purchase games online with a PSP 1000, 2000, 3000. Purchasing games online is not an exclusive feature of PSP Go. PSP Go's exclusive "features" are the lack choice, and all the other nice things listed in the first post.
By the way, I have 32GB of flash ram in my PSP 2000: A photofast adapter and two 16GB micro sdhcs. And they were way cheaper than Sony's proprietary memory sticks, too. Why? Because choice is good.
