Sounds terrible to me. Real 'bottom of the class' concept.

Jack the Ripper is a fascinating (if horrible) character, making him a hero against demonic whores (only rational I can see for the actual whore killing) in a generic action title is an awful idea.

Give me a really dark, atmospheric take on London, with me as the inspector on his trail, perhaps look at the many excellent sources to drawn on (or flat out rip off) like Alan Moore's graphic novel, and I'd be very interested.

But this - boring use of one daft idea to justify another generic title by the sound of it.

I agree with what you said completely. If they wanted to do something in that setting, they should have adapted an HP Lovecraft story, or something with the Necronomicon.

You're too kind, sir.  I hope they do deliver something interesting.  When I think 'Victorian London' and 'Jack the Ripper' I imagine a setting as cool as Rapture in Bioshock, an amazing setting that could serve as the backdrop for something interesting.  I'd love a great Lovecraft game, too.  I played one on PC (gone blank on title) and it was really good, except the engine / graphics were weak and it had some terrible bugs here and there, but the plot and atmoshpere was excellent.  I think it was on 360 too, or maybe Xbox?

Guess we'll just have to wait and see.

Try to be reasonable... its easier than you think...
