Having played through both and I'd go with Killzone 2. It’s was just a more memorable experience for me. Hear are a few reasons I think it’s better (based 100% on single player, not really into the whole I shoot you, you shoot me, I shoot you, you shoot me multiplayer thing, for what it’s worth)

+ Superior Graphics- Killzone really is an amazingly immersive visual experience and a show piece for the PS3. Resistance is pretty bland/average looking in comparison.

+ Enemy AI- Killzone’s enemy AI is really good, the enemies flank, move under cover, and generally make you work for space. Significantly better/smarted than the enemies in Resistance 2, which are more of the run at you and shoot variety.

+ Weapons- Resistance may have better variety. But overall, I’d say Killzone’s weapons are much more satisfying to use. The sniper is one of the best uses of the six axis ever, and all the weapons just feel very powerful and real (at least in part due to amazing enemy animations when hit)

+ Cover Mechanic- I was resistant to use it at first, but the cover mechanic really does make the game stand out from a strategy perspective. It, along with the enemy AI, force you to really work to cover ground, and makes the game similar to Gears in some ways. Note; you can get away without using it a lot of the time, but played with the cover it's a lot of fun. It’s meant to be played this way, and is therefore a slower paced strategic type game than the more average run and gun FPS that is Resistance 2.

+ Graphics again- They really are that much better than anything else on the market!!!!!!

You really should play both. Resistance 2 is highly playable, just not as amazing a Killzone for me.
