I think most people have more troubles with their consistency than with a specific bias. I like to read their articles and many of their reviews, but they seem to oscillate quite wildly when it comes to drawing a bottom-line.
Sometimes they seem to go all out for innovation and poignant content over form, and other times they reward shine and polish; the fact that we don't know the actual reviewers under the umbrella of the "edge staff" sign doesn't help the reader to put those votes into a narrower context.

Myself, I always look with great interest at anything they rate highly, but I also found great gaming experiences they treated not as well.
