World's first mod chip for PS3?

I'd be concerned about 'chipping' my PS3 because of Firmware updates. It's already happening on the Wii with update 4.0 (if I'm not mistaken). XBox might be different - don't know for sure. Here in Malta everyone knows how you could 'chip' that.
