He didn't compare an RTS vs a FPS. He compared Quake vs Halo. Also I'm sorry, just looking at videos of Halo pros vs UT/Quake pros you can notice a huge difference between the two games, and don't even get me into the whole auto-aim that Halo gets. It has created one of the biggest dynasties in video games based on accessability. Same way Wii Sports is even bigger than Halo, are you telling me Wii Sports takes more skills than Halo because it's bigger? I don't think so. It's accessible, and by extnesion it's simple and easy. Only Blizzard has managed to do simple to pic up and hard to master, as shown by Diablo and Starcraft. Also don't give me Counter Strike as an example of skill. Coming from UT2004, all I had to do was get an awp, sit in a corner and look away from flashbangs, then anyone who comes in my LOS is screwed. CS doesn;t take individual skill at all. Also, Half-Life's far reaching story will put any novella etc. in Halo to shame. Halo is an easily accessible, easy to play, shooter. And that's it. @Zen Final word, not all games are cheap ports and get poerted later on PCs, even ones with concurrent releases also get lower scores on the PC than the console. |
He compared quake and starcraft to Halo. Usually a casual player can't tell whats going on or understand even half the intricacies of what a pro player is doing, just by looking at your comments it is painfully obvious you have fallen victim to that very thing. So you compared Quake and Halo off of what speed? There are a thousand things a Halo pro has to worry about and be aware of in a game, every tiny advantage must be exploited to come out on top. Just go read some beginner articles on getting into professional Halo and you will understand how clueless you are to the game.
When I say dynasty I'm talking about a team not the game. Go look up Final Boss. What does the size of a game have anything to do with how good a team or player is? Actually having a massive game increases competition making the top teams have to be even better. Can you honestly tell me that UT2004 with a pool of lets be generous and say 100,000 players is as competitive as Halo with 10 million plus. Honestly the fact that you think CS takes no skill should make me stop arguing with you since it clearly shows you have not even the slightest clue when it comes to skill in videogames. If there was no skill gap in Halo then please explain to me why the same 5 teams consistently place higher than everyone else? Why is it that some random person can't pick up a controller and go win himself the top prize of $100,000. You claim that if you played Halo you would be amazing at it so go to an MLG tournament with 3 of your pro PC buddies and win, should be easy considering all Halo pro's are noobs.
As for story http://blog.ascendantjustice.com/halo-3/the-terminals/
There you go, enjoy reading. Thats just what you find in Halo 3 not including the first 2 games or even the novels. If you read all that and still think Halo has a weak story then you clearly have no idea what your talking about.
Oh and here is a little brush up on Professional Halo 3 gaming http://www.mlgpro.com/forum/showthread.php?t=163173
Read that and when your done come back to me and I'll teach you what skill really means.
And for the record I agree with you about COD4, I hate unlocking guns as you level up and I hate the perk system.
