Im fairly certain avatar is launching with 3d enabled.
The problem is with movies, everyone ive seen. Toy story 1 and 2, monsters vs aliens and UP, some scenes it works fantastic. when it makes sense in the scene and its not a distraction, its crisp, clean and engaging.
however when they try to make everything 3d there are too many "grounds" to focus on, leaving some parts of the scene indistinguishable and distracting.
the recent game informer issue with Avatar explains that the game devs noted this and are not going to go crazy with it and use it when it makes sense, just like the movie. Hopefully the game launches with the option and Avatar is done right because some scenes are just annoying because you cant focus on all of the scene and it starts to blur.
