yeah maybe so, but im still sure more people have won the lottery than been struck by lightning.. in the UK there is at least one jackpot winner twice a week, usually more. that doesnt include all the people who win smaller amounts, and smaller amounts.. and so on.. whereas being struck by lightning is pretty rare indeed. being struck by lightning would certainly get you in the news.
- To date, in 2009, 32 people have been killed by lightning
- In 2008, 28 people died due to lightning strikes
- Hundreds of others were permanently injured. Of the victims who were killed by lightning in 2008:
- 100% outside
- 79% male
- 36% males between the ages of 20-25
- 32% under a tree
- 29% on or near the water
See, it says "hundreds" a year. i know that could be quite a lot, but like i said.. if you dont mess around under trees and near water, that takes away like a third each of the risk factor
