Developers have also went to great lenghts, adding DRM, and online registration, in order to prevent piracy.

DRM has nothing to do with piracy- it's an attempt to kill second hand sales. Fortunately, the uproar over it has more or less killed it on the PC, the limited activations side of it at least. I wouldn't be surprised to see it rear its ugly head on the next set of consoles, with games being tied to the machine it was initially played on. If it doesn't, then you can thank those PC gamers who vehemently protested against it.

This. If the games don't get tagged to the same console thank thosse 1.5 million pirates of spore.

I don't understand this DRM thing at all. Why don't developers just stop allowing the game discs to be installed to the computer? That way the only computer to play the game would be the one that had the disc on hand.

Because i wanna listen to music while playing off a cd or backing up some data onto a cd or just make use of my CD drive while playing. What happens when we dont use CD media anymore and it disappears like the floppy? Many games requrie the disc to be in the tray to play but that's the easiest workaround. Just make a image and you are set.

So buy a second drive then. I mean really who with a gaming computer would only have one drive nowadays? Just the fact that you're completely open to listening to CDs on your computer instead of listening to MP3s should show you're open to the suggestion. If they didn't allow installs they wouldn't have to worry about DRM anymore.
