(4 - (9/2))2 = (5 - (9/2))2

You cant just remove the square and eliminate the 9/2. Actually is this:

!4 - (9/2)! = !5 - (9/2)!  (! stands for the module)

!-0,5! = !0,5!

0,5 = 0,5
