Im from Rio and can I say:
- Yes, we do have a big crime rate. But since politicians know that the eyes of the world will be watching they will take srious measures. Call in the Army, etc. to help.
- We dont have the infrastructure yet, but we will or get close. And yes, thre will be a lot of backroom deals and a lot of politicians will make a lot of money. However, it will still atract a lot of money to the city so it will still be good.
- We still are one of the prettiest (if not the best one) looking city in the World. So we are fine with that.
Honestly, I dont personally care. I do like the jobs and money it will provide. If we do a good job, people will look more favorably to us and to other 3rd world countries to host these kind of things.
I will not like the crowds, the price hike on everything and the noise, bu twhat can I do?
PS - Zexen, I could invite you to stay with me for you to save some money. But I wont!
