the PS4 will be significantly cheaper. Actually, I highly predict the PS4 will launch cheaper than any other console.
Sony will use the same Cell chip they're using now. It's more powerful than like 90% of PC CPUs. At that time they will of invested loads of money to shrink it and lower costs. Sony will MORE than likely use another nvidia card very similar to this one and as a result not only will programming switch be very easy, they will have massive performance power due to the nature of the cell and a more powerful CPU. toss in some ever declining cost of ram/storage and you have yourself a 299$ launch machine, maybe less. With the dropping price of blu-ray drives, and the fact that every other console is either going to have to pay sony per game sold or go digital puts them in a fantastic positon. Microsoft will needa whole new processor and nintendo will need a completely new overhaul all together.
The cell is the optimal setup for a console since you can split things up. Cell doesnt work well in PC since things need to be split across usage. anyway, it will be very cheap.
