Go satellite... both are better then anything the cable companies can offer. WIth cable I had frequent problems with the screen pixelating every few seconds which gets annoying and non hd channels are damn near impossible to watch because of all the artifacting.
Between the two sat companies, I prefer Dish. They have a great HD lineup and are also using better encoding then DirectTV (mpeg 4 compared to mpeg 2) so they will look a bit better on Dish, but both will still be great.
If you are a sports junky, well DirectTV is the best way to go, but the Dish isn't terrible though.
My pokemon brings all the nerds to the yard. And they're like, "You wanna trade cards?" Damn right, I wanna trade cards. I'll trade this, but not my charizard.
