Actually, the grinding part of the game was only 40-50 hours, and not even that was hard too, which is point of the discussion. You could grind hundred of hours in Oblivion to get all the map explored too, and that wouldn't affect the difficulty per se.

All RPG's can be easy or hard depending of your experience with those kind of games, some people find WRPG's easy, some find JRPG's easy, it all comes down to skill, and how you play the game plays a major part in it because either you play it, trying to explore all possibilites and strategies that the game has to offer, or you can zoom through the game, playing the easiest way the game allows you to do.
