Well, this article would also suggest that Nvidia doesn't seem too interested in DX11 as well, though: http://www.tweaktown.com/news/13199/amd_respond_to_nvidia_s_tough_radeon_hd_5800_questions/index.html

Which implies they don't have any DX11 products for a while.

The latest news from Charlie at Semiaccurate (if you believe him, personally I do) is that Nvidia are deciding whether to respin it and the decision to go ahead or not hasn't been made yet. Either it's a 2-3 month delay OR they launch at crippling sub-10% yields.

http://charliedemerjianisadouchebag.blogspot.com/

Also, due to charlie everyone on the net is screaming and repeating "1.7%!" because he bungled a translation. Or alternatively "AMDs Competitive Analysis Team" bungled it and, as he works for AMD, he repeated it without checking it.

Charlie has got dozens of things wrong. The only thing he's ever been at all correct about was the defective materials in some nVidia mobile GPUs and even then he got the how/why and whens wrong.

Even a broken clock is right two times a day. Charlie -may- have alot of contacts with AMD/ATi (Due to working for them - coincidentally why TheInq fired him when they found out) but he has NONE inside TSMC or nVidia and has admitted so himself on semiaccurates forums.

Also, i saw you claimed that Charlie "leaked" the correct shader count for the 58XX. Its not really a "leak" if he posted it on semiaccurate the SAME DAY as ATi told everyone else and it appeared on their websites. I could claim i knew beforehand, but with nothing to back it up that claim is worthless.

and the price of their cards will be several times that of a similiar AMD card for a 5% increase.

AMD's 5870 costs $400, and GPU manufacturer OCed versions cost even more. This is virtually the same price Nvidia's will be for their high-end.

Anyways, Nvidia has had their 40nm DX 10.1 GPUs on the market for a few months now for OEMs and will be releasing the GT220 soon. Its a good sign of things to come.

As for performance, I've been hearing interesting performance numbers. Only thing is the GT300 is completely different than what we have seen in GPUs so really I have no idea if their capabilities will be fully supported by game and software developers.

I really doubt that given Nvidia's history. And arent the prices right now $379 HD5870 vs. $500 GTX 295?

that should tell you what's to come alright.

Good idea. Compare a card that has almost 2x the components with a single PCB/GPU card. Once the 5870 starts to actually be in stock i shoudl imagine the prices of it will drop, just like the its GTX280/260 predecessors did.
