The potential is there, but it needs to be taken advantage of. It pretty much all comes down to Sony. If they can issue a nunchuk accessory to remove the quagmire of holding both a Motion Controller and a DualShock, release proper bundles for one or more motion controllers along with the PlayStation Eye and possibly a game at a reasonable price, and release a program enabling the PlayStation Eye to recognize basic motions as well as facial features to be used for navigating the XMB and signing on respectively, then they truly will have the perfect combination of all controls.
The options and technology are there. Make it happen Sony.
