There is a wide variation in what various television ads cost; the larger and more diverse the audience is the more competition there is for the slot and thus the price goes up dramatically. I don't know that much about the cost of ads but I know that a national ad on a popular show like Heroes or American Idol can cost over $500,000 whereas a national ad on a re-run of a show (like CSI) can be much lower than that ($25,000).

If Sony was running a targeted campaign, that was specifically targeting your viewing habits, you could potentially see the same commercial 100 times as often as if they were doing a more general campaign.
