If the PS3 had PS2 compatibility I would say it's no big deal.
The fact that Sony is dropping PS2 compatibility from new systems, it is a bad sign for Sony. Sony needs to come out with a dual PS2/PS3 compatible game format or their PS2 user base means nothing. Even if it's just software compatibility, new PS2 games need to somehow be certified compatible with the PS3 or they are really going to be hurting PS3 wise.
