Gaming will not die, it's just that companies have run too fast on the hardware side and now they've difficult times in having profit...but next gen they'll not do the same mistake!

And also, not all the companies are in negative, Nintendo first of all but also others...the gaming industry will survive.

Gaming won't die as long as Nintendo is around, but the games industry as it is, will die

More companies need to emulate Nintendo's way of doing things, not just copy their controllers, why for example do Nintendo games keep selling at full price while so many companies worry about the used games market

If Sony and MS are not stupid the next gen (if there will be one soon) for them will be similar to the Nintendo one...not just in games and userbase (quite surely they'll copy Nintendo in the motion department) but also in the financial part of their industry. The industry will die probably if they make the same mistake as now: trying reaching the computer power in a console...this would kill the industry.

Sony and MS can copy Nintendo's technology, sure, but they can't really follow Nintendo when it comes to game software, I mean games like Wii sports, Wii fit, those were things that really only Nintendo could think up, sure now you'll probably see Sony and MS try and copy those games, but its too little too late, and there really is no sign that they'll be able to do any better next gen as far as the games are concerned.

Predictions:Sales of Wii Fit will surpass the combined sales of the Grand Theft Auto franchiseLifetime sales of Wii will surpass the combined sales of the entire Playstation family of consoles by 12/31/2015 Wii hardware sales will surpass the total hardware sales of the PS2 by 12/31/2010 Wii will have 50% marketshare or more by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  It was a little over 48% only)Wii will surpass 45 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2008 (I was wrong!!  Nintendo Financials showed it fell slightly short of 45 million shipped by end of 2008)Wii will surpass 80 Million in lifetime sales by the end of 2009 (I was wrong!! Wii didn't even get to 70 Million)
