Though admittidly that was BS since the Ninja had both a speed and range advantage... and really the Spartan should of never been within range to deal a blow unless the ninja fought like an idiot.

How does the Ninja have range when a spartan has like a freaking 10 foot spear?

A) A spartan can't utlize it in a 10 foot strike.

Kusarigama.  The ball can do enough damage to dent a bronze helmet well outside of a spears range.

Did Ninjas usually carrry that with them though?

I honestly don't see the logic in a Ninja losing to a Spartan though. The entire show is loony.

General logic was the Spartan Shield would protect the Spartan from all the Ninjas ranged attacks... leading to it having to be a close combat fight where the Spartans sword made the difference.
