Not at all saying RE5 was a bad game, since many people seemed to sincerely enjoy it, and the sales do speak for themselves, but there were also many who contended that there was something "off" about it. RE5 and Dead Rising were both good games, but were also developed with an initiative to appeal to westerners. It's the idea that we need to go out of our way to appeal to these westerners, it's a betrayal of your values as a developer, like when Retro Studios caved and tacked on that multiplayer element to Metroid Prime 2.
Whether or not the results are good games (as RE5 and Dead Rising are), is besides the point. They're betraying their own values purely for commercial purposes, similar to the charges leveled against Nintendo in this generation, except that what Nintendo is doing is more like getting back to their own core values (but i digress).
It's an issue of integrity, despite the ultimate output.

Monster Hunter: pissing me off since 2010.
