Ok, before everyone jumps to conclusions - I'm not saying the next Nintendo WILL fail.  I think it will actually do fairly well.  However, based upon the volume of sales that the Wii is enjoying so far and the assumed end amount sold, will the next Nintendo be seen as a failure if it can't live up to the Wii?  I honestly don't expect Nintendo's next console to match the Wii in sales..I think that's a ludicrous assumption.  We also know that people like to call things failures that don't match up to their predecessors or exceed them.

It's similar to what people were talking about in the thread about FFVIII being on the PSN.  The game was destined to 'fail' because it followed FFVII, even though it didn't really fail, and otherwise most everyone who played it thought it was a good game. I expect Nintendo's next console to break the 100 million mark, but if it doesn't enjoy the level of success that the Wii has, do you think people will start to consider it and call it a failure?

I personally won't unless it's sales bomb, but then it really will be a failure.  What do you think?
