Hypothetically Speaking.. What would happen if FFXIII Flops?

I know this is a novel concept.

But not much at all would happen. "shrug"

Square Enix has enough legs to keep running even if FF13 was the most horrible piece of crap ever made. Game sales are game sales, and the game will sell millions in Japan alone. A company like Squaresoft has several game franchises right now making money for them. Yes, Final Fantasy is a name that you'd prefer not to be tarnished, but even if it was, all they'd to do is make "FFVersus13" great, or make sure the next installment is of a much higher caliber.

Plus you have to realize the Japanese market. Put the words "Dragon Quest" or "Final Fantasy" on a cardboard box outside a game store and it will sell millions without the gameplay ever being investigated. Kind of like Halo or Gears of War in America.
