I don't see this being decided anytime soon. As others have said the HD formats have not been adopted by the majority of consumers and given the decent quality of upscaled standard DVD's it may be a long time before an HD disc format is adopted.
In fact it could become a moot point as more HD content is delivered online bypassing formats completely.
With this holiday seeing $99 HD DVD players available at WalMart some of the PS3 as a blu ray player advantage will be lost.
