He doesn't need to do that, all he needs to do is send proof of purchase aka a receipt I believe to MS and he gets the $50 rebate as long as he bought the $300 elite although it may apply to older elites but I'm not sure. But do it soon it only last until October 5th.

If he bought it yesterday, he does.
