So my concern would be depth of game. Making things look prettier gets pretty costly in terms of space on media. I think as has been said many times before, there will always need to be a balance of processor power being used to decompress and up sample low res images to make them look better, or have shorter games with higher native resolution. It will be interesting to see how far we go in each direction.
