Mirror's Edge's story was weak... the big revelation at the end was totally a let down considering that the main theme was of a dystopia and the setting was sci-fi (at least make the catchers clones or something >.< Fucking Icarus program was such a let down. Oh, we're going to train runners to catch you!!! Not some fucking become a god thing like Deus Ex, or some super surveilence program...)
Faith, like Assassin's Creed Altair, would have been so much better silent. Ropeburn? WTF, a professional wrestler? "Faithy"? Even though I guess Jacknife isn't supposed to be likable, that's just a fucking stupid insult.
Grrr.... they should have had some levels where it was more grimy to show Faith's roots, the people who are pushed down by the dystopia, and establish some sympathy and connection. They should have had some revelations of the past to show how the society came to be. They should have had an actual freaking antagonist where you see his point of view and why he wanted to created the society. There should be some backstory as in how the dystopia came to be.
Hopefully they can do this all in the sequel... but man, story in Mirror's Edge was such a lost potential.

Killzone 2 had an awesome backstory on the website, but failed to impliment it. Perhaps in the 3'rd and final game (all good things need to be trilogies) it could focus on Hakha (the half Helghan character from the original game) and his father (although he wouldn't be able to participate in the UCA vs Vektan war... maybe there were some undercover operations? Perhaps assassinating Visari as he's becoming a rising force?)
They could parallel how Hakha's father fell in love with an Helghan woman, and how Hakha tries to resolve the conflict between the two people. They could pitch the UCA as the ultimate antagonist, and how they never cared for Vekta (as they attacked it in the original civil war...) and only the resources on Helghan...
But again, they never got to the awesome backstory in Killzone 2.
Oh shit, I got some fan fic ideas going on now... imagine in Killzone 3, the intro is hearing a familiar but different voice, and the camera eventually reveals a young Visari talking about the civil war and injustices. Then introducing to the first time, the famous Helghan mask to all the people (not just workers) and rallying them to be more proud of himself.
In the shadows you can see an mask wearing Vektan speaking into a recorder. And then finishing the recording by saying his full name.
Then you hear Hakha's last name being called out, and you're straight into battle. From then on you alternate between an disgruntled Hakha, leading the defense of Vekta while trying to understand his past and present by listening to his father's recordings (which you play out... perhaps in a more stealthy way). You get to explore Visari more and his character, if he truly cares about the Helghast or not (perhaps he's working for the UCA to finish off the Helghast O.o).
IDK, but they really need the backstory to be fleshed out in Killzone 3.

Bad Company 2 had a mediocre story, not really a single player game anyway...
I think that's it for me. Never played Bioshock. Oblivion doesn't really count as an FPS. Never played Fallout 3 yet. Gonna be great when I can buy games for 19.99 in the future.
