Well there was a thread just a day ago or so where Naughty Dog said that they used to visit other studios, including Bungie, to help out with sharing their knowledge on how to develop games etc. So this comes as no surprise.
And i mean, why wouldn't they play it? If they like to play games aswell as develop them, it would be a shame to ignore it if they have the chance to play it. Console wars is just for fanboys and PR people who get paid to make their company sound good.
