More topic introduction, less citation in the opening paragraph. That beginning was rather dense. Tell me what you are going to tell me. Then start telling me. And conclude by telling me what you told me. (I. Introduction. II-VI. Body. VII. Conclusion).
Also, unless Bruce D. Bartholow is on the faculty where you teach, you probably need to identify his institution (and even if he is, you should do so anyway).
