I think Dragon Quest X is going to be moved to a DS title (or DS successor) and maybe S-E will give Nintendo a "console companion" with its own quests for the Wii so as to not upset relations.

The DS one will sell 4 mill, and hey they'll probably squeeze 2 mill out of the Wii version, so win-win.

DQIX is easily going to be the best selling DQ of all time ... they're not going to move the franchise away from the DS now just because consoles .... uh ... offer a bigger screen.

Yes they will.  By the time DQX will be finished, all the consoles will be nearing the final year(s) of production and have their most marketshare they have ever had.  Much like the PS2, the Wii has shown it is the clear leader in popularity and marketshare.  By the time they release the game on the Wii, Japan will probably habe 10-12 Million Wii systems and there will be 60+ Million Wii Systems worldwide.  Plus the release of the game will easily sell more systems.

The reason they're putting the next one on the Wii is because Dragon Quest is primarily a console based series.  This last one going to DS mostly did that because there was no clear winner (or fesable good JRPG system) early on when development started for DQIX.  Now the Wii is clearly the more popular and cost effective system to develop for, so they chose that for the next DQ game.  And they aren't going to lose sales from a Dragon Quest game.  Except maybe like the 500,000 extra that the DS brought in of people buying the game on a whim or to get into the series.  And some of those will now buy the game on Wii.
