I never became an astronomer, because it ended up passing out of my system. Why and how should a 12 year old be able to make a decision that will affect them for life? I really don't see why this was and is a smart decision. Are the parents free to do this? Absolutely. But that doesn't mean that I shouldn't be free to say they are irresponsible for listening to the whims of their child. I just hope that if this really takes place with the child, that this is what he really, really, really wants. Because if this isn't the case, it may ruin his life. |
Wanting to be an astronomer and being a female is a different thing.
I'm assuming this kid was like the vast majority of people who have these operations. Psychologically of a different gender than their physical one, a girl in a boys body.
As long as there was a thorough psychological examination to make sure that this was indeed the case I fully support this. Its basically correcting a screw up of nature - same as fixing a cleft pallete or any other defect of birth.
Oh and yeah. This is from the Sun so you can't be that sure about it.
