Well I should think that if Microsoft saw benefit in reducing the size of the 360 then they would be restructuring it in away that would hopefully nuetralize RROD anyway.

I think the biggest question is would it be worth Microsoft's time, money and effort to completely redesign the 360. What exactly would they gain? Well, they would have yet another excuse to "relaunch" the console for a 3rd or 4th time and they would probably reduce the cost of the system by decreasing the amount of plastic as well as the shipping costs with smaller, lighter packages. Would it be worth the development costs of redesigning it though? The 360 isn't selling at a complete loss like the PS3 is so is it really in Microsoft's best interest? As far as I know, Japan is the only market that really cares that much about the size of a console, but in all honesty Japan is all but a lost cause for 360 anyway.
