I'm not sure if you noticed... but we actually tried bringing them into the international community before... and it was working fine... back when they were a democracy.

Turkey has a clear path but the Ukraine doesn't?  Even though the Ukraine fits much better?  Because the EU is afraid it will provoke Russia.

But Ukraine, Georgia, Molodva, Armenia... countries like that are currently screwed... and by currently i mean Russia is actually activly effecting the way those countries run... in a way that western countries bascially couldn't get away with.

You're ignoring one obvious fact, the USA was not the only country to invade Iraq... Not by a long shot. The international community invaded Iraq because as a whole it said they were producing weapons of mass destruction and demanded action.

I'm going to appeal to your libertarian side. Pushing them away is like the war on drugs, you're just making the problem go deeper underground. If you legalised drugs you would grow a closer relationship with the producers and therefore be able to monitor the industry easier. With Russia pushing them away will just make their "dirty" politics just go underground, however bringing them closer will make their politics easier to monitor. Ipso facto, being able to oversee their influence on neighbouring countries much clearer.

They were the only country of consequence to.  Nobody else really put in many troops... and the international community as a whole didn't want the US to go in.  Or if they did they're certainly being hypocritical after the fact.

As for the "bringing them closer" angle... it's just never worked... If it won't work with a country as weak as North Korea why would it work with Russia?

As for being able to monitor what the russians are doing better... we don't need too... they brazenly due everything right out in front.  We have UN observers and other international communites actually seeing the russians doing this shit and reporting it.

The truth is.  Russia is doing whatever it wants to those small countries because it knows it can.  Because it knows the US and Europe aren't going to start a nuclear war for some small countries most people haven't even heard of like Moldovia...

and they're doing it because they want to make sure they're under their control before they end up in the EU or NATO.

That's why they were angry about the nuclear shield... because it hurt their posturing power.

 

If you want to continue the drug analogy.  Russia is a unrepetetive user.  They are using the drug, and they don't give a fuck about anything but they're drug... and it's to the point of where they are out robbing other people to keep up the habit.

Legal or Illegal they aren't going to get help because quite frankley... they don't want it.

So you have the choice of ignoring the behavior that's hurting others... or force them to get help.
